Access BlixtFS from Windows over SMB or NFS, and run the server with Docker Desktop.
The BlixtFS app for Windows
A native BlixtFS app for Windows is in development. Until it is available, use Docker as described below.
Accessing BlixtFS from Windows
Windows connects to BlixtFS over SMB, which is built in. In File Explorer, right-click This PC › Map network drive, pick a drive letter, and enter:
\\blixt.example.com\bfs
Or from a command prompt:
net use Z: \\blixt.example.com\bfs /user:alice
The SMB user and password are set on the server. See Protocols.
NFS
Windows Pro and Enterprise include an NFS client. Enable Services for NFS › Client for NFS in Turn Windows features on or off. SMB is the better choice on Windows: it is built in on every edition and supports Windows file semantics.
Running the server on Windows
Install Docker Desktop with the WSL 2 backend, then follow Docker. Run the commands in a WSL terminal.
A native Windows client that mounts buckets without a separate server is being prepared.
