Run BlixtFS on a Linux server, and mount it from Linux clients.
Running the server on Linux
BlixtFS is distributed as container images. On a Linux server, install Docker
and follow Docker. There are no separate .deb or
.rpm packages.
On Ubuntu, Docker Engine can be installed from Docker’s own repository:
curl -fsSL https://get.docker.com | sh
sudo usermod -aG docker "$USER" # then log out and back in
Linux hosts can also use host networking (--network host), which NFSv3
requires. See Docker.
Mounting from Linux clients
Install the client tools:
# Debian and Ubuntu
sudo apt install nfs-common cifs-utils
# RHEL, Rocky, Fedora
sudo dnf install nfs-utils cifs-utils
Mount over NFS:
sudo mount -t nfs -o vers=4 blixt.example.com:/ /mnt/blixt
Or over SMB:
sudo mount -t cifs //blixt.example.com/bfs /mnt/blixt \
-o vers=3.1.1,username=alice
To mount at boot, add an /etc/fstab line:
blixt.example.com:/ /mnt/blixt nfs vers=4,_netdev 0 0
